南部爆發登革熱疫情，國立台灣海洋大學成功復育台灣原生本土種「台灣稻田魚」，放入水域中可減緩蚊蠅孳生，應用生物防治展開登革熱防疫，也可消除外來種魚類入侵的疑慮。

海大海洋生物研究所教授陳義雄昨天表示，台灣稻田魚是台灣本土稀有的原生種魚類，近幾十年低海拔的水體汙染及外來魚種威脅，導致台灣稻田魚在台灣水域幾乎絕滅了。

陳義雄表示，目前登革熱疫情延燒，貿然大量使用美洲引進的大肚魚（食蚊魚）及孔雀魚等放流，外來魚種可能造成水域魚類生態威脅。若將台灣稻田魚復育繁殖的新生族群，投入水域生態自然的生物防治，就不會有這樣的疑慮，同時兼顧本土生態，又可以減緩蚊蠅孳生的威脅，達到防疫效果。

台灣稻田魚在全台僅剩下新北市及宜蘭縣存有零星少數族群，海大研究進行繁養殖研究，已順利自然繁殖出新生族群至少600-700尾，建立了基礎保種族群，未來會持續建置自然繁殖系統，擴增足量的自然族群資源。
